Who We Are
Fugazy Films is part of the Transmissions From Atlantis Entertainment network, created by filmmakers JC and Rita De La Torre.
JC De La Torre
JC De La Torre is an award-winning creative force in independent cinema whose work blends myth, history, science fiction, fantasy, and cutting-edge technology to tell compelling visual stories.
His films are not quickly assembled tech experiments. Every project is built with hands-on creative intent. JC personally writes, develops character models, storyboards, prompts, edits, color grades, creates music and sound effects, and oversees the final render. His work combines traditional filmmaking instincts with modern production tools to create stories with emotion, momentum, and cinematic scope.
JC is the founder of Ancient Memoria, a history-focused media brand producing animated docudramas, and Fugazy Films, an experimental independent studio reimagining film, music, and fan culture through the lens of cutting-edge technology.
De La Torre wrote, directed, and produced the feature-length science-fantasy live-action adventure film Seekers of the Lost Worlds, a globe-trotting story of lost civilizations and forbidden knowledge. The film was an early showcase of his passion for mythology-infused storytelling and his ability to weave mystery, action, and emotional depth into independent cinema. It was honored with Best Feature of the Festival at the 2018 Honolulu Film Awards and enjoyed a successful run on Amazon Prime.
A veteran storyteller, JC has also helmed animated historical epics such as the award-winning Isabella: Rise of the Warrior Queen under the Ancient Memoria banner. Praised for its cinematic Western anime style and historical authenticity, the film became one of the first full-length feature films created with cutting-edge technology to win Best Animated Feature at a film festival, earning the honor at the 2025 Atlantis Awards.
His work on Howard Carter: The Sand and the Seal reflects his commitment to bringing overlooked stories to life with emotional power, cinematic energy, and educational value.
With Fugazy Films, JC continues to push the boundaries of fan and genre filmmaking. Using advanced creative tools, he has produced standout anime-inspired fan film shorts based on beloved adventure, sci-fi, and fantasy franchises, including Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and Highlander. He also created a number of original anime shorts during his 30 Days of Anime challenge, including the well-regarded Serial, Tomb of the Star Eater, Article of Ash, and Until the End of Time.
Beyond filmmaking, JC De La Torre is a published speculative fiction author, with works including Ancient Rising and Nightmares from Eberus. He is also a comic book writer, having created Star Mage with IDW Publishing, as well as an award-nominated sports columnist. His podcasting and audio drama work includes acclaimed fiction series such as Continuum Force and Vampires of White Chapel.
As a filmmaker, JC De La Torre stands at the forefront of technology-powered storytelling, merging traditional narrative craft with the innovative tools of tomorrow to redefine what independent cinema can become.
